Unfortunately, not sure what the problem is, but assuming it is software-related for now if everything was working before the Win10 Creator's update. I love ASUS and I own a lot of ASUS stuff, but if I can't fix this it will be a huge disappointment. However, since this trick only works for Might and Magic 6, it would be nice to find a more comprehensive solution. If I start the game, and then detach the keyboard, then rotate the screen, then rotate it back, then re-attach the keyboard, the game works normally until I alt-tab, then the game will be corrupted again when I go back into it. I did find one workaround that worked for Might and Magic 6, but not for other games.

It seems there's some interaction between Intel's video drivers and the latest version of Windows 10 when trying to run low-resolution fullscreen games. I had the exact same problem with Might and Magic 8 and Baldur's Gate (the original the Enhanced Edition from Steam works perfectly), but all the games I tried seem to run perfectly on my gaming desktop (GTX 970) and my old Toshiba laptop (Radeon HD 7670M), both of which also run Windows 10 1703.

Windows won't let me install the drivers from Intel's website and I'm using the most recent driver from ASUS.

I also tried to upgrade my GPU driver but there is no new driver available. I've also tried every combination of graphics settings in the Intel control panel and compatibility modes I could think of, with no luck. All my games worked fine until the machine upgraded to Windows 10 1703, then I had the exact same problem I did on my T100HA. My wife has an ASUS T102HA that came with Windwhich I tested as well. I tried several different tests using the same settings and I saw no corruption, so I'm pretty sure I can rule out a hardware problem. I was beginning to think my GPU was failing so I installed MSI Kombustor and set it for 800圆00 resolution, full screen. I re-imaged the machine again and tried again, to no avail. GOG.com has certified their version of Might and Magic 6 for Windows 10, but it's a DirectDraw game from 1996 so it's not at all demanding. I have this problem no matter what I set the scaling mode to preserve aspect ratio or stretch the image, it does not matter. Since the opening menu is on the right side and was obscured, I had to Alt-F4 to get out of the game. About 20% of the screen was covered in gray. When I launched the game, it did run, but the entire right edge of the screen was just gray.

I re-imaged the machine to clear the gunk from the upgrade and then I reinstalled Might and Magic 6. It worked perfectly for my purpose until recently, when it automatically upgraded to the "Creators Update" (Windows 10 version 1703). I'm sure you could find one among them that would run Torchlight at a reasonable framerate.Last December I bought an ASUS Transformer Book T100HA 2-in-1 specifically to play re-packaged old-school games from GOG.com while travelling. Of course, there are much more powerful netbooks out there, that are really testing the limits of what a netbook is all about - moving closer to what you'd usually call a notebook or even a normal laptop. I've tried every combination of settings available, as well as a few mods, and there's nothing you can do to make it run with an acceptable framerate on a typical netbook like the Asus 1001PX. It will, however, not run very well, and certainly won't be playable - no matter what you do to it. And while Runic has claimed that Torchlight would "run" on a Netbook, and even included a "Netbook mode" in the settings for the game, they have since admitted that their claim was exactly that it would run on a Netbook - not that it would run very well, or that it would be playable.Īnd Torchlight lives up to that claim.

Talbain: What is the best way to run Torchlight faster on Netbook, and which setting or mod can be used for this purpose? I tested this years ago, on my Asus 1001PX.
